Mohbad: Naira Marley lands in police custody upon return to Nigeria

Marlian Record boss Azeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, has returned to Nigeria following the police invitation on the circumstances surrounding the death of his former signee Mohbad.
The Lagos Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed this, said Naira Marley was now in their custody for questioning.
“Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities,” Mr Hundeyin said in a tweet late Tuesday.
Also, the “Tesumole” singer confirmed his return in a tweet, saying he returned to the country to assist the police with their investigation.
“I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria, to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation,” Naira Marley said.
“It’s important I do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail,” he added.
Days ago, Naira Marley, who has faced backlash on and off social media after videos of his alleged maltreatment of Mohbad surfaced online, expressed his sadness at the passing of the “Peace” crooner.
The Marlian president has released two statements denying his involvement in the late singer’s death. In unravelling the cause of Mohbad’s death, the police invited Naira Marley and his ally, Sam Larry, for questioning.
Naira Marley had vowed to honour the police invitation if his safety was guaranteed. He also expressed his interest in helping the police to uncover the truth behind the death of Mohbad.
