Mom arraigned over son’s alleged maltreatment

A 29-year-old woman, Aminat Lawal, was on Wednesday docked in an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly maltreating her 12-year-old son.
The defendant whose address was not stated, is charged with “indecent beating.”
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Aminu Isaac, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on October 29 at about 2:am at No 19, Kokoro Abu St. area of Ikorodu, Lagos.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant beat up her son which resulted in a dislocation of his right hand.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, B.A. Sonuga, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Sonuga adjourned the case until December 4, for mention.
