Moppet Foods founder Edu-Oyedokun wins Africa agripreneur award
Roberta Edu-Oyedokun, founder of Moppet Foods, has received the Outstanding Value-Adding Enterprise award at the 2025 Women Agripreneurs of the Year Awards.
The award was announced in a statement on Thursday.
The WAYA awards, initiated by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa under its VALUE4HER programme, attracted nearly 2,000 applications from across Africa.
Ms Edu-Oyedokun, the only Nigerian winner in Dakar, was recognised for processing bio-fortified local crops into premium, nutrient-rich food products for children.
The awards, presented at the Africa Food Systems Forum, celebrated six women entrepreneurs for outstanding contributions to agribusiness and food security across the continent.
Ms Edu-Oyedokun described the award as proof of Nigerian women’s resilience in business, despite prevailing economic challenges.
She noted that Moppet Foods recently became the first Nigerian children’s food brand stocked in Walmart outlets across the United States.
“I am still overwhelmed by God’s grace as I reflect on the win. This is not just for me but for every Nigerian woman building through darkness, difficulty, and economic gloom.
“It affirms Moppet’s commitment to global standards of nutrition, safety, and sustainability,” she said.
AGRA president Alice Ruhweza said the winners demonstrated how innovation and resilience were reshaping Africa’s food systems.
Other winners included Mathildah Amollo of Kenya, who clinched the grand prize.
Juliet Tumusiime of Uganda was named Women Empowerment Champion, while Julienne Olawolé Agossadou of Benin received the Resilient and Inspirational Leader award.
Joyce Waithira Rugano of Kenya won the Female Ag-Tech Innovator award, and Onicca Sibanyona of South Africa emerged as the Young Female Agripreneur (Rising Star).
