Morocco 2025: Onana, Aboubakar missing as Cameroon release final squad for AFCON

Cameroon, on Monday, released the 28-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, omitting Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana and national team legend Vincent Aboubakar.
This was confirmed after Cameroon’s football federation unveiled the final team for the tournament, starting on December 21, and announced David Pagou as the replacement for Marc Brys as the head coach of the Indomitable Lions.
Pagou’s first action was to immediately approve the team list for the AFCON. He named four goalkeepers, nine defenders, four strikers and 11 midfielders, with both Onana, who is currently on loan at Trabzonspor and Aboubakar unmistakably missing in the lineup.
However, the team can boast of the inclusion of some big names, including Manchester United sensation Bryan Mbeumo and Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.
The Indomitable Lions will begin their AFCON campaign against Gabon on December 24 before a high-profile clash against defending champions Ivory Coast five days later.
Meanwhile, they will face Mozambique in the final group stage on New Year’s Eve.
