Mother of GUO bus passenger abducted on Benin expressway cries out over N50 million ransom demand

The mother of the victim stated that Christiana’s father had died, urging the public to help her.

A mother of one of the GUO bus passengers abducted along the Benin–Lagos Expressway on Monday has cried out after the kidnappers demanded N50 million ransom to release her daughter.

Her daughter, identified as Christiana, was among passengers on an 18-seater bus abducted on along the expressway

In a viral video, the victim’s mother cried for help, saying the kidnappers contacted her and demanded N50 million to free her daughter in their custody.

She said, “They came to kidnap my pikin for road and they called me say make I bring N50 million. I no get N50 million. Abeg, I dey beg for N10 million. Dem never answer me. Abeg, make people help me. Make Una help me. Dem don give me time say around 4 o’clock.”

The mother of the victim stated that Christiana’s father had died, urging the public to help her.

A bank account believed to be that of the victim’s mother was also attached to the video for donation by the public.

“I be widow. Christiana no get papa.  My husband don die. Christian’s no get Papa. Dem no get Papa. Make Una help me. Make Una help me. Dem kidnap her on yesterday,” she said

“Abeg, Abeg, Abeg, make una help me o. I no know here I wan go o. I no get husband o. She dem come from Lagos. Abeg, make una help me. Abeg make Una help me. Everybody make una join hand together,” she said in a pidgin language.

The Peoples Gazetted had earlier reported that gunmen killed the bus driver and abducted passengers on the bus.

The state police spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, didn’t answer calls made to her mobile nor replied to text and WhatsApp messages sent to get her comments on the matter.
