Mother of JAMB candidate collapses, dies at Ondo UTME centre

A middle-aged woman, Oluwasola Victoria Adebayo, slumped and died while accompanying her daughter to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Ondo State.
Mrs Adebayo died on Monday in the Ilara-Mokin community in Ifedore Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesman for the Ondo State police command, Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed the incident in a short statement issued in Akure.
Mr Abayomi explained that the command received a report of the death of the woman accompanying her daughter to the examination centre in Ilara-Mokin and immediately took the necessary steps.
He added that the remains of the deceased have been handed over to her son, who rushed to the scene to identify his mother.
“The family of the deceased has since been contacted and upon thorough checks, the remains have been released to one Mr Apapa Olamilekan, who identified himself as her son and an officer of the Nigeria Legion, Akure.
“The Command commiserates with the family of the deceased and urges the public to remain calm,” Mr Abayomi said.
