The mother of Oluwaseun Adewole, one of the kidnapped members of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), abducted on Ifon road in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, has cried for help in rescuing his child.

While appearing in a video on Sunday, the woman who did not disclose her real name demanded the urgent release of her child, Mr Adewole, from the kidnappers’ den.

“Kidnappers have abducted my only child who was returning home from where he travelled for his NYSC mandatory orientation camp programme,” said the woman.

“This is very sad and devastating. His father cannot do a thing to rescue him because he has a stroke, and he is helpless. Nigerians help me,” the woman broke down in heavy tears in the footage obtained by Peoples Gazette.

According to her, Mr Adewole’s abductors have contacted the family through her phone number, demanding the ransom of N30 million before he would be released.

“The bandits are asking me to pay N30 million to release my only child. Help me,” she cried.

The Gazette had reported on Saturday armed bandits attacked a passenger vehicle on the Ifon/Owo road in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, killing two persons and kidnapping some travellers.

The state police had confirmed the abduction, saying they were after the bandits with the promise to rescue the kidnapped victims.

Following the kidnap case, some youths under the aegis of the Ondo State Youth Network (OSYN) have called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to prioritise the security of the lives and properties of residents of the state.

In a statement signed by the group’s coordinator, Afe Ezekiel and its spokesperson, Christopher Olusa, on Sunday, the youths called for the deployment of a joint task force comprising the Nigerian Police Force’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Amotekun Corps, and the Nigerian Army to the flash points area of the state.

They also sought, “The implementation of a special security committee dedicated to resolving this issue is crucial. The government must ensure the immediate release of all kidnapped individuals and take decisive steps to prevent future incidents.”

The youths threatened to hit the streets in protest should the state government fail to meet their demands and ensure the release of kidnap victims, adding, “We cannot stand by while our people suffer.”
