Mother, three children die in Yobe fire incident

A mother and her three children died during a fire incident in Rugar Audu Badali, a Fulani community in the Karasuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.
A statement on Saturday by the State Emergency Management Agency (SENA) said that the blazing fire claimed four lives in a Friday incident that occurred at about 5:00 p.m.
“The blaze claimed the lives of four members of the family of Mallam Bukar — his wife Bilkisu and their three children, Zainab, Hafsat, and Salamatu,” the statement reads.
It said that surviving household members were left homeless and in profound distress, noting that the deceased were interred in accordance with Islamic rites.
The agency said it took the lead in mobilising a joint assessment and condolence mission, working closely with representatives of the Karasuwa Local Government Authority and community stakeholders which Yobe SEMA officials promptly visited the affected site.
“The Agency-led team conducted a thorough on-site evaluation, documenting the total loss of residential structures and household belongings, and engaged directly with the bereaved family and other residents to assess their immediate needs and psychosocial condition,” it noted
The agency conveyed its profound condolences to Mr Bukar, his surviving relatives, and the entire people of Karasuwa Local Government Area, expressing heartfelt sympathy.
It added, “The assessment, spearheaded by Yobe SEMA, confirmed the urgent need for emergency relief support, temporary shelter, and psychosocial assistance for the displaced survivors.”
