A 43-year-old man has died after falling more than 300 metres off Germany’s highest mountain.

Police said the man was climbing the Zugspitze in southern Germany with another mountaineer via the Höllental, which translates as Hell Valley, on Friday when he slipped and fell.

The man was reportedly killed immediately.

Investigators said another person did not cause the accident.

The body was only recovered on Saturday morning due to adverse weather conditions.
