Multimillion-naira property saved from fire in Kano: FFS

The Federal Fire Service says it saved property valued at about N55 million in Kano. The controller in Kano, Kazeem Sholadoye, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
According to the statement, the fire service received a distress call at about 3:50 p.m. from No. 281 Kansakali Street, along Goron Dutse Custodial Centre.
“Upon receiving the report, we immediately deployed our firefighter team from the Federal Secretariat station to the scene,” said the statement.
It said the fire affected a one-storey residential building and had razed a single room.
The blaze was caused by an electrical spark from a Lithium battery system, according to the firefighters.
The statement said that due to the swift response and professionalism of the personnel, property valued at N55 million was saved, while the estimated losses stood at N5 million.
“No casualty was recorded, and the firefighters conducted a thorough inspection to ensure that there was no further risk of fire,” added the fire service.
The FFS advised residents to engage only certified professionals for the installation of electrical and lithium battery systems to prevent avoidable fire incidents.
