An Ibadan-based trader, Sola Famuyibo, told the Mapo Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan that her brother-in-law’s wife, Sumbo, “charmed” her husband with cooking.

Ms Famuyibo made the allegations in her counterargument against her husband’s claim that she maltreated him in the matrimony.

She added that things were normal in her union until Ms Sumbo used her cooking to cause trouble in her relationship by luring Williams, her husband, thereby destroying her marriage.

“My Lord, Sumbo is after my life. She pushed my husband into adultery. In fact, Williams now dates one Alhaja.

“Worst still, she has taken my husband out of our house and caused Williams to separate from me. Please, help reconcile my husband with me,” Ms Famuyibo begged the court.

In 2022, Mr Williams sought to dissolve the 33-year-old union because he said living with Ms Famuyibo was no longer comfortable.

“My lord, I am now living with my younger brother due to her unhealthy attitude and meanness towards me.

“In fact, I don’t have peace of mind because she doesn’t take care of me.

“I had five children before I married her in 1990, but all of them are living with my other relatives as a result of my wife’s repulsive attitude toward me,” Mr Williams said.

The court’s president, S.M. Akintayo, adjourned the suit until April 27 for cross-examination.
