My father-in-law has been meeting with Naira Marley; bailed out suspects in singer’s death: Mohbad’s Wife
Omowumi, the wife of Ilerioluwa “Mohbad” Aloba, has alleged that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, has been meeting with record label boss Naira Marley and has a relationship with the suspects connected to her husband’s death.
Omowumi, who spoke on Arise TV alongside her lawyer, Kabir Akingbolu, claimed Aloba bailed out some suspects arrested over Mohbad’s death on September 12, 2023.
“Mohbad’s father has been going to him,” Akingbolu said, referring to Naira Marley, who was criticised for assaulting Mohbad, his former signee, on several occasions. “Even some people that were arrested for the murder of Mohbad, the man went there and bailed them out.”
Omowumi also alleged that Aloba had a cordial relationship with the suspects’ lawyer, Odumosu, who had been coaching them on what to say.
She identified the suspects as Ayobami Sadiq, who fought with Mohbad at a show before his death, his friend who called the nurse who attended to him, and Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the nurse who administered the injection before he died.
“His friend gave us the nurse’s contact number. Mohbad was fine until he received his third injection, after which he started reacting,” she said.
Omowumi also criticised the nurse’s “nonchalant” behaviour, saying it has been unclear if she “made a mistake or she was sent” after reactions from the injection led to her husband’s death.
“The nurse who administered the injection has seen how I’ve been bullied, but she has been clubbing, partying, living her life, and has said nothing,” Omowumi said.
Last Wednesday, the magistrate ruled that charges against Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Owodunni “Primeboy” Ibrahim, and Mohbad’s manager, Babatunde Opere, should be dropped due to insufficient evidence linking them to Mohbad’s death.
The court ruled that instead, the nurse and Sadiq should be prosecuted for Mohbad’s death on charges of alleged recklessness and negligence.
