Veteran Nollywood actor, Dele Odule, has raised an alarm about a fraudulent scheme using his picture to deceive people into sending money.

In a video sent to Peoples Gazette, the actor said he is not behind any solicitations for financial support and he warned his fans about the ongoing scam.

“I have said this once and I’m repeating it again, it has been brought to my notice that someone somewhere is using my picture profile to scam and swindle money, soliciting for support. It is not coming from me,” Odule stated emphatically in the video.

Odule, a respected figure in Nollywood, emphasised that he continues to work actively in the industry, earning enough to lead a responsible life. “I still go to locations, they pay me, and the money I’m receiving from these producers is enough for me to be a responsible man,” he said, underscoring his financial stability.

Expressing his contentment with his current living standards, Odule made it clear that he does not need to seek money from the public. “By the living standard of an average actor in this country, I am contented. I am not saying I am rich but I know how to get across to my fans, family, and good friends. I can’t go on the internet and be begging people.”

The actor revealed that the fraudulent activities have caused considerable distress, with numerous calls from concerned individuals both in Nigeria and abroad asking if he had indeed requested money. “People keep calling me from abroad and here in Nigeria, asking me if truly I requested for money. I have never done that and I don’t pray to ever do that,” Odule assured his followers.

In his message, Odule also provided a specific phone number associated with the scam, urging people to be vigilant. “This is the number doing that. 07082858186,” he disclosed.

The actor concluded his statement by advising anyone contacted by the scammers to demand proof and to be wary of such fraudulent schemes.
