NAFDAC seals illegal cosmetics factory in Lagos

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has sealed an illegal factory producing fake cosmetic products at Benue Plaza, Trade Fair Complex in Lagos State.
NAFDAC disclosed this in a post on X on Tuesday.
“NAFDAC has shut down an illegal factory producing counterfeit cosmetic products at Benue Plaza, Trade Fair Complex in Lagos State,” it said.
NAFDAC said its officers during the raid of the location discovered various unregistered chemicals and packaging materials, along with expired products being validated for sale.”
It stated, “Over 1,200 cartons of fake cosmetic products were seized, the agency noted that Items including mini-mixing containers, unlabelled chemicals, batch coding materials, and thinners, were confiscated and moved to the NAFDAC office for further investigation.”
NAFDAC estimated the street value of the confiscated items to be around ₦50 million.
Urging the public to be cautious when purchasing cosmetic products, NAFDAC urged that suspicious activities should be reported to its nearest office.
