NAFDAC seals off Sokoto bakery over repackaging, poor sanitation

The National Agency For Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed a bakery in Sokoto over repackaging other products and operating in a poor sanitary environment.
The NAFDAC coordinator in Sokoto, Garba Adamu, said Tuesday that the unregistered bakery was shut with assistance from security men.
Mr Adamu said the owner of the bakery had been arrested and sanctioned accordingly, adding that the materials used were also
confiscated.
He explained that the owner had also been educated and guided on registering his products according to stipulated guidelines.
According to him, NAFDAC engages producers in business-friendly and customer-focussed activities to align with the federal government’s
policy of encouraging entrepreneurship in Nigerian communities.
The NAFDAC coordinator added that the focus was to subsidise registration requirements for micro, small and medium substantially
enterprises (MSMEs) produce specific low-risk products.
He said the agency embarked on the process while ensuring the quality of the products through the well-entrenched regulatory framework with quality management system certification.
He reiterated the agency’s commitment to safeguarding public health and urged people to support its activities.
