Nasarawa assembly confirms Wandai as NASIEC chairman

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has approved the reappointment of Ayuba Wandai as the chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC).
Danladi Jatau, the speaker of the House, announced his confirmation after Mr Wandai appeared for screening during its proceedings on Tuesday in Lafia.
”We hereby screened and confirmed the appointment of Mr Ayuba Wandai as Chairman, Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC),” Mr Jatau said.
The speaker directed the clerk of the House to communicate the resolution to Abdullahi Sule for further necessary action.
In his part, Hajaratt Danyaro (APC-Nasarawa Central) and Onarigu Kana (SDP-Udege/Loko), who hail from Nasarawa LGA, where the nominee hails from, urged their colleagues to screen and confirm Mr Wandai.
Suleiman Azara, the majority leader of the House, moved a motion for the confirmation of Mr Wandai.
Luka Zhekaba, the minority leader of the House, seconded the motion.
The House unanimously confirmed Mr Wandai as the chairman of NASIEC.
While speaking with journalists after his confirmation, Mr Wandai pledged his commitment to conducting transparent, free, and fair local government elections in the state.
He stated that the 2024 local government election conducted by the commission was adjudged to be the best in the state’s history.
Mr Wandai appreciated the House for the support the commission was receiving from them and called for its continuation.
The NASIEC chairman also thanked Mr Sule for reappointing him and assured him of his commitment to discharging his duties without fear or favour.
