Nasarawa assembly seeks more support for vocational institute in Lafia

Nasarawa State House of Assembly committee on education has appealed to Gov. Abdullahi Sule to allocate more funds to Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, Lafia.
The committee chairman, Abel Bala, made the appeal in Lafia on Friday, when the management of the institute appeared before the committee on its Second Quarter 2025 Budget Performance (SQBP).
He said that giving more assistance to the institute was to enable it to meet the objectives of its establishment.
Mr Bala, who represents Nassarawa Eggon West Constituency, said that the committee was pleased with the institute’s performance and called on management to sustain it.
“Your performance for the second quarter is excellent.
“The Executive Director, Dr Daniel Ewuga, and his management team are doing well, and I urge you to keep it up,” he said.
According to him, the training you are giving to the youths is commendable because it is tackling youth restiveness in the state by keeping them off the street.
The lawmaker assured them of the committee’s support to succeed.
He also commended the governor for his effort and support to the institute to succeed through the training of youths in different skills in the state.
Earlier, the executive director appreciated the committee for the support the institute was enjoying from it.
He restated the commitment of the institute to continue to train the youth in different skills to be self-reliant.
He, however, identified delays in approvals and inadequate overhead as some of the challenges affecting the institute.
In a related development, the management of the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Lafia, also appeared before the committee on its 2025 SQBP.
The rector of the college, Musa Maikaffi, lauded the committee for being up and doing in ensuring the development of the institution.
Responding, Mr Bala commended the management of the college for its impressive internally generated revenue profile and other performances.
“I want to assure you of our continued support and synergy to succeed,” he said.
