The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has urged the works ministry to ensure the provision of quality roads.

The chairman of the House Committee on Works and Housing, Suleiman Azara, made the call on Wednesday while assessing the ministry’s and other agencies’ budget performance for the second quarter of 2025 in Lafia.

Mr Azara expressed worry over the slow pace of work on some ongoing rural road construction projects. He urged the ministry to ensure that contractors handling various projects were mobilised and returned to their respective sites.

He charged the ministry to work closely with the contractors and ensure strict supervision in compliance with contract specifications.

”You are to ensure that standard work is done according to specifications,” he charged.

The committee also hosted the management of Nasarawa State Electricity Board (NASEB), where the committee chairman thanked them for providing electricity to the people of the state.

Mr Azara assured them of the committee’s support to enable them to succeed.

Furthermore, the management of the Nasarawa State Fire Service Agency and the Nasarawa State Motor Vehicle Administration and Traffic Management Agency appeared before the committee, where the committee chairman commended them for their good performance in the second quarter.

Mr Azara urged them to put in more effort to deliver quality services.

He said the committee would synergise with management to overcome challenges of workforce, operational vehicles, and fund approvals and releases that affect the smooth operation of their organisations.
