Nasarawa: Lawmaker doles out N70 million empowerment items to constituents

Solomon Akwashiki, the member representing Lafia Central Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, on Saturday, distributed items worth N70 million to his constituents to promote self-reliance.
Mr Akwashiki, who is the chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts, donated four Sharon Space Wagon vehicles, 22 motorcycles, and 60 grinding machines to beneficiaries at an event in Lafia.
He said the gesture was part of his continued commitment to improving the standard of living of the people of the constituency.
“I have provided boreholes, electricity, employment, empowerment, JAMB registration, health, among other intervention programmes.
“By God’s grace, I will continue to do my best and be the voice, as well as to defend the interest of my people at all times,” he said.
Mr Akwashiki urged those yet to benefit from his gestures to be patient, while assuring them of more dividends of democracy.
He also urged the electorate to support and vote for competent leaders into positions in order to enjoy dividends of democracy.
The lawmaker appreciated the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, Social Democratic Party (SDP) officials and other stakeholders for supporting him to succeed.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the House, Mr Jatau, appreciated Mr Akwashiki for providing the dividends of democracy to his people.
“This is the third time, I am attending Akwashiki’s empowerment programmes; he is doing well, ” Mr Jatau said.
The speaker called on Nigerians to continue to embrace unity and peace irrespective of their affiliations for the overall development of the country.
Some prominent members of the SDP, including the national chairman, Sadiq Gombe, the 2023 presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, Rep. Abubakar Sarki-Dahiru (Lafia/Obi), Rep. Jonathan Gaza (Keffi/Karu/Kokona), and Labaran Maku, former Minister of Information, attended the event.
Other attendees were Likita Ajegena, Nasarawa State SDP chairman, and Sada’atu Abdullahi, SDP national women leader.
All the dignitaries who spoke at the event commended the lawmaker for positively impacting the lives of the people.
They urged the people of the state and Nigerians to support and vote for SDP candidates at all levels during the 2027 election.
They also urged the beneficiaries not to sell the items but to use them for the purpose for which they were meant in order to improve their standard of living.
Responding, some of the beneficiaries, Evelyn Markus and Christiana Akolo, appreciated Mr Akwashiki for the gesture and prayed God to bless him abundantly.
They assured him of their loyalty, prayers, and support to enable him succeed.
