Nasarawa police arrest two suspects, recover truck cabin stolen in Kogi

Operatives attached to the Mararaba ‘A’ Division of the Nasarawa State Police Command on Saturday arrested two suspects in possession of a stolen DAF truck cabin in the Tudun Wada area of Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area.
Command spokesperson Ramhan Nansel said in a statement on Sunday that the suspects confessed they were driving the truck to Mararaba, from where they had stolen it in Kogi State, after they had already sold the vehicle’s body for N4 million.
Mr Nansel said the suspects, Abdulrahaman Danjuma, 31, of Mararaba, and Saadu Umar, 34, of Zone Four, Abuja, were arrested at about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 28.
“During the operation, an unregistered white DAF truck cabin, suspected to have been stolen, was recovered. A search conducted on the vehicle led to the recovery of two number plates: DGA 118 XA and USS 168 XA.
“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to stealing the trailer from Kogi State and driving it to Mararaba. They further disclosed that they had sold the trailer body to a yet-to-be-identified person through the assistance of a proxy who is currently at large, at the cost of four million naira (₦4,000,000),” the police spokesperson said.
Mr Nansel said the arrest was in compliance with the directive of the state’s commissioner of police, Shetima Mohammed, to strengthen community-based policing and intensify the fight against crime.
The CP commended operatives for their professionalism and urged them to intensify efforts to apprehend other suspects.
He ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects and the recovered exhibit to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for discreet and comprehensive investigation.
