The Nasarawa State University, Keffi has reaffirmed its commitment to producing young entrepreneurs and promoting academic excellence through research and other intellectual engagements.

The vice-chancellor of the university, Sa’adatu Liman, committed the university’s fourth Faculty of Administration Staff Seminar Series held at the university on Wednesday.

Abdulsalam Jibrin, a professor of Entrepreneurship Studies at the university, delivered the seminar paper.

The seminar brought together academic and non-academic staff and students from various departments to explore new perspectives on entrepreneurship and its relevance to innovation, social value, and national development.

Ms Liman commended the faculty for organising the event and promised that NSUK would continue to provide platforms to encourage intellectual curiosity and meaningful dialogue.

“The university remains fully committed to training graduates with entrepreneurship skills who are competent, self-sufficient, and capable of contributing to Nigeria’s economic development,” she said.

In his presentation, Mr Jibrin challenged the narrow view of entrepreneurship as only business creation.

He said entrepreneurship should be seen as a catalyst for innovation, critical thinking, social transformation, and human capital development.

To support his proposition, Mr Jibrin unveiled his ‘Re-imagined Entrepreneurship Framework’, an integrative model that positions entrepreneurship beyond business creation toward responsible innovation and sustainable development.

He explained that entrepreneurship needed rethinking due to economic reductionism, weak ethical foundations, and the need for a multidimensional approach.

He urged participants to embrace ethical leadership and creative problem-solving and called on young Nigerians not to be afraid to take risks.

“The entrepreneur is viewed as an innovator, risk-bearer, opportunity discoverer, and resource mobiliser,” he said.

He said that entrepreneurship was inevitable in today’s complex world as a force for sustainable transformation.
