Natasha Akpoti decries abduction of Kogi university students, wants improved security in schools

Ms Akpoti-Uduaghan said learning environments must be protected from such attacks and urged security agencies to ensure the safe release of the students.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has condemned the attack and abduction of students by gunmen at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi.

Ms Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, in a statement in Abuja on Friday, called for improved security, describing the attack as “unfortunate and unacceptable.”

She said the information released by the university indicated that the incident occurred at 8:23 p.m. on Thursday, when gunmen attacked the university and abducted an unspecified number of students studying for their examinations.

Ms Akpoti-Uduaghan said learning environments must be protected from such attacks and urged security agencies to ensure the safe release of the students and bring the perpetrators to justice.

She offered her support and assistance to ensure the students’ safe return and emphasised the need for measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
