NCAA petitions AGF, IGP to prosecute Tinubu’s praise singer KWAM1 for blocking moving aircraft

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has petitioned Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), and Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), to prosecute Fuji musician Wasiu ‘KWAM1’ Ayinde for blocking an aircraft at the Abuja airport on Wednesday.
KWAM1, who is President Bola Tinubu’s dedicated praise singer, sparked public outrage on Wednesday after blocking a ValueJet aircraft.
Michael Achimugu, NCAA spokesman, in a letter addressed to the AGF and IGP, said KWAM1’s obstruction of a moving aircraft violated Nigeriaās civil aviation regulations.
The NCAA called for a ācomprehensive criminal investigation and the initiation of appropriate prosecution in accordance with the provisions of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023 supra and all other applicable laws,” the statement reads.
This followed an earlier no-fly ban imposed on the musician on Thursday by the minister of aviation, Festus Keyamo.
Mr Keyamo described KWAM1’s conduct as ārecalcitrantā and ātotally unacceptable,ā likening his behaviour to a hostage situation.
According to the minister, the argument over whether the Fuji artiste had alcohol or water in his flask became irrelevant the moment he blocked the aircraft.
