NCoS recaptures escaped inmate in Katsina
The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) says it has recaptured one of two awaiting trial inmates who recently escaped from a medium-security custodial centre in Katsina State.
This is contained in a statement issued to journalists on Thursday by ASC Najibullah Idris, the spokesperson, NCoS, Katsina State command.
“Following the recent escape of two awaiting trial inmates from the medium-security custodial centre, Katsina (Old), on Oct. 17, 2023, a search party was constituted in collaboration with sister security agencies.
“Consequently, the principal suspect among the duo, Abba Kala, has been recaptured.
“The NCoS Katsina command is tracking the remaining fleeing inmates using the service’s e-tracking system as well as collaboration with sister security agencies.
“And the command will soon take him into custody,” Mr Idris said.
He added that the controller general of corrections, Haliru Nababa appreciates sister security agencies for a functional synergy that led to the recapturing.
The spokesperson quoted Mr Nababa as assuring the public that there is no cause for alarm as the situation is under control.
The recaptured inmate, Abba Kala, was some time ago paraded by the police command in Katsina for alleged car snatching.
