NDLEA to train tour operators on tracking drug traffickers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) will train members of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) to assist in tracking drug traffickers.
The partnership was revealed by the NDLEA chairman, Buba Marwa, during a presentation of a certificate of nomination as NANTA Eminent Person Awardee.
According to a statement issued on Saturday to journalists in Lagos NANTA president Susan Akporiaye and two council members had visited Mr Marwa who pledged to support members to receive training that would enhance their partnership with NDLEA.
Mr Marwa thanked the association for the recognition, adding that as a former player in the aviation sector, he appreciated the challenges faced by travel operators in tracking drug traffickers who approached them for travel services.
Mrs Akporiaye said the award to be bestowed on Mr Marwa as “Champion of Drug Free Nigeria” on November 12 in Abuja was a token of appreciation from the association.
“NANTA appreciates your dedication and passion in this regard and as partners in progress we look forward to your office in helping our members to avoid pitfalls of being labelled as influencers and bridge lines to drug cartels and couriers,” she said.
