NEDC concludes inspection of ongoing projects in Taraba

The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) on Sunday completed inspection of massive infrastructural projects ongoing in Taraba.
The projects include the construction of the 180 metres Namnai Bridge along
Wukari-Jalingo road and the construction of the 160 metres River Bantaje Bridge along Wukari-Donga Road.
Others include the construction of the ICT Centre at the Federal University Wukari, a graphic design classroom with computers, and a phone-repair classroom with kits.
Also, NEDC mass housing units in Wukari Local Government Area, the construction of a box culvert along Suntai-Donga Road, and the inspection of work at the Government Science Secondary School (GSSS) in Donga.
Uba Maigari, Minister of State, Regional Development, who led the NEDC inspection team, said the exercise became crucial to ensuring that the works were executed within the time frame.
Mr Maigari said the infrastructure projects, especially roads and bridges, were aimed at boosting the economy by improving access to agricultural production communities.
The minister described the situation at the GSSS Donga as the worst dilapidated facility in the entire southern Taraba senatorial district.
He said the rehabilitation of the GSSS would include four blocks of 12 classrooms, four units of two-bedroom staff quarters, a gatehouse and fence, an administrative block, and a commercial centre.
Earlier, the minister inaugurated the Entrepreneurship Centre at the Taraba State University, Jalingo.
The team also inspected ongoing projects in the Zing local government area, among others.
