The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says it is strengthening its partnership with State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs) and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) to enhance disaster management effectiveness.

NEMA director-general Zubaida Umar disclosed this on Friday in Jos at the 2025 Customer Service Week celebration, themed “Mission: Possible.”

Ms Umar, represented by Abdulrazaq Adebiyi, NEMA North-Central zonal director, said the agency had intensified efforts to enhance service delivery.

The DG said the agency was building capacities for first responders and integrating advanced early warning systems.

She stressed the need for continuous improvement in logistics, communication, and inter-agency collaboration.

Ms Umar added that maintaining high standards of service would save lives and reinforce public confidence in the national emergency response system.

Meanwhile, Bintu Wana, head of operations, NEMA Jos operations office, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to quality service delivery.

Ms Wana said that quality service remained the foundation of effective disaster management.

The head of operations challenged the agency to remain accountable, listen to feedback, and improve its services.

“Disaster management is not just about reacting to crises; it is about being prepared, coordinated, and service-oriented.

“Quality service is what transforms a rescue operation into a life-saving mission,” she said.

The various stakeholders at the event pledged to deepen their cooperation with the NEMA and share expertise to enhance the nation’s disaster readiness.
