NESREA seals four facilities in Nasarawa over environmental violation

The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has sealed four facilities in Nasarawa State over non-compliance with environmental standards and regulations.
Nwamaka Ejiofor, assistant director of press at NESREA, said in a statement on Friday in Abuja that the enforcement was carried out on Thursday.
Ms Ejiofor explained that the agency shut down ABZAT Quarry, Hoafong Mining Trading Company Limited, Emono Venture and Mivanyi Integrated Farms for offences ranging from air pollution to lack of environmental management documents.
She said the exercise aligned with the agency’s mandate to protect the environment and prohibit activities that undermine environmental sustainability and public health.
Ms Ejiofor said Monday Da’am, head of operations at the Karu operational office of NESREA, led the enforcement team.
“NESREA reiterates its commitment to ensuring strict compliance with environmental laws, standards and regulations across the country.
“Facilities have been urged to adopt environmentally responsible practices and deploy best available technology in their operations.
“This enforcement exercise further demonstrates NESREA’s resolve to safeguard the environment, protect public health and ensure sustainable development across the country,” Ms Ejiofor said.
