New AIG Dantawaye seeks support of Anambra, Enugu residents to fight crime

AIG Miller Dantawaye, the new commanding officer of Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo, has assured the residents of Anambra and Enugu states of the command’s commitment under his watch to ensure security and peace.
Mr Dantawaye, who gave the assurance following his assumption of duty as the 10th AIG in charge of the zonal command, promised to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessors.
According to a statement on Friday, Mr Dantawaye succeeded Godwin Eze, who recently retired from the force after attaining retirement age.
The AIG also charged officers in the command to be dedicated, disciplined, and committed to the core values of the police. He pledged to promote professionalism, discipline, intelligence-led policing, respect for human rights, and enhanced collaboration with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders in combating crime across the zone.
“AIG Dantawaye expresses profound appreciation to the inspector general of police for the confidence reposed in him. The AIG reassures residents of Anambra and Enugu states of the zone’s unwavering commitment to sustaining peace, maintaining law and order, and strengthening community partnership in line with the vision and strategic agenda of the IGP,” said the statement.
Born in October 1971 in Ankpa, Kogi State, Mr Dantawaye is an indigene of Kajuru council area of Kaduna. He enlisted into the police as a cadet assistant superintendent of police on May 1, 2000, and holds a B.Sc. in International Studies.
Mr Dantawaye has served in numerous strategic operational, investigative, and administrative positions, including divisional crime officer, camp commandant, divisional police officer, escort commander to the vice-president, escort commander to the president/squadron commander of 24 Police Mobile Force.
He was an assistant commissioner of police (operations at the FCT command), ACP (Field Studies) Police Academy Wudil in Kano, area commander in Adamawa and Lagos, and deputy commissioner of police (operations) in Yobe and Edo.
He was also a commissioner of police (information technology), Kogi, FCT command, and most recently as AIG (Federal Operations, Force Headquarters), Abuja.
