The Nigeria Police Force, Bauchi State Command, has assured that investigation of cases will be evidence-based and intelligence-driven in the state.

The new Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, gave the assurance at a news conference on Wednesday in Bauchi.

According to him, the police will integrate elements of key modern crime control and conflict management strategies into its policing efforts.

He stated that the efforts were deliberately directed at prolific offenders and hot spots, policing and managing major public gatherings and crime-prone events within dedicated community partnership systems.

He said, “Investigation of cases shall be evidence-based and intelligence-driven. Actionable intelligence and community policing methods shall be directed at practical crime and violent conflict prevention with decisive response capabilities. We shall identify our respective and collective areas of responsibility in terms of geographical areas, demography, social and economic crime maps of areas and command to guide intelligence-led operations.

“Our officers and men have been lectured to shun any indiscipline, corruption, or unprofessional or unethical behaviours, as they will be held accountable for their actions and inactions during their duties.’’

The CP, who lauded the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbtokun, for finding him worthy of the deployment to Bauchi State, appreciated his predecessors’ excellent work in policing the state.

He further assured that the police in the state would put in place vigorous and courageous efforts in surmounting emerging security challenges in accordance with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Mr Aliyu added, “The policing, mission and vision theme of the Inspector-General of Police which is to protect with courage and serve with compassion, shall be our guide. We shall take the lead in strengthening inter-agency collaboration as a strategic pathway to achieving our internal security mandate. To this end, we shall establish robust and healthy relationships and partnerships with sister security agencies and stakeholders in the state.’’
