New York: Bank of America executive stabbed to death in Times Square
A Bank of America vice-president, Erin Piacenti, has died after she was stabbed at Times Square, New York City, U.S. She passed away on Monday.
According to Reuters, Ms Piacenti, 32, died at the hospital from stabbing injuries.
The company, in an emailed message to the news agency on Tuesday, expressed sadness over the incident.
“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague. She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones,” it stated.
The New York police department commissioner, Jessica Tisch, said the deceased was stabbed by a knife-wielding woman identified as Pamela Cisneros.
Ms Tisch, however, described the attack as random and unprovoked.
According to her, responding police officers opened fire after Tasers failed to stop Ms Cisneros from advancing toward them with knives.
The woman attacked two individuals; Ms Piacenti and a 68-year-old man said to be stable in a hospital.
