New Zealand minister to promote premium wool in India
A senior agricultural official is visiting India this week to promote New Zealand’s premium strong wool and strengthen trade ties at Bharat Tex 2026, India’s largest global textile expo.
Associate agriculture minister Mark Patterson said in a statement on Monday that India is New Zealand’s second-largest wool market and offers significant growth potential for exporters.
During the visit, Mr Patterson will speak at a business roundtable and meet key figures across India’s wool supply chain, including India’s minister for textiles, manufacturers and researchers.
The New Zealand government is investing more than $37.44 million in the wool sector in 25 projects, according to the minister.
He added that the purpose is to drive innovative, high-value opportunities and facilitate collaboration to improve supply chain capability.
