The National Human Rights Commission in Kano says it received 172 complaints of alleged human rights abuses in September.

The NHRC state coordinator, Shehu Abdullahi, disclosed this in an interview on Monday in Kano.

He said that 122 of the cases had been treated, while 50 are pending.

Mr Abdullahi said 130 cases bordered on the rights of children and women.

He explained that 32 of the cases received during the period under review were on abandonment of family responsibilities and domestic violence, with 10 cases on economy and cultural rights,  labour, and physical violence.

He further explained that the commission also mediated on marital matters between couples.

He, therefore, urged couples to be patient and to manage their responsibilities with humility.
