NHRC receives scores of human rights complaints in Kano
The National Human Rights Commission in Kano, on Monday, said it received 60 complaints of human rights abuses in November.
The NHRC coordinator, Shehu Abdullahi, made this known in an interview on Monday in Kano.
He said that 45 of the cases had been treated, while 15 are pending.
Mr Abdullahi said that 28 of the reported cases in the period under review bordered on child rights, women and gender.
According to him, 21 other cases were on abandonment of family responsibility and domestic violence.
“The remaining 11 cases are on economic and cultural rights, labour and physical violence rights,” he said.
Mr Abdullahi said that the commission also received complaints from couples and mediated marital disputes.
The NHRC boss consequently urged couples to be more patient with one another to manage their responsibilities.
