NiDCOM rescues 13 trafficked Nigerians from Ghana

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM, has announced the rescue and safe return of 13 more Nigerians from trafficking in Ghana back to Nigeria.
The rescued victims include 11 adults and two babies, aged four weeks and 16 months, respectively.
The Commission, in a statement on Monday issued by its Head of media, public relations and protocols unit, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, noted that its chairman/CEO, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, appreciated the efforts of the Nigerian First Lady, Remi Tinubu, for her support in helping with the return of the victims to the country.
Mrs Dabiri-Erewa also highlighted the efforts of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for conducting profiling as part of its standard reintegration process, while the Commission provided logistics assistance in facilitating the safe return of victims to their respective states.
According to the statement, returnees were received on behalf of the chairman by the head of operations in Lagos, Dele Ogunkanbi, and some of the women are currently receiving medical care and mental health support.
The NiDCOM boss, however, reiterated concerns over the growing risks associated with irregular migration and warned young Nigerians against unverified travel and job offers abroad.
