Niger appoints new SUBEB, SDG officials

Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger has approved the appointment of Saidu Ibrahim (Mainan Kontagora) as the new executive chairman of Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
The governor, on July 30 suspended Idaho Adamu, the SUBEB chairman for anomalies in the operations of the board and sacked the director-general of SDGs, Abdullahi Arah.
A statement on Monday by Ahmed Matane, Secretary to the Government of Niger disclosed that the appointment of Mr Ibrahim was based on merit and integrity.
The Niger government urged the new SUBEB chairman to align with the policy direction of the state and pursue the reinvigoration of the board within the context of the government’s drive to enhance basic education.
The governor congratulated the new SUBEB boss on his appointment and wished him.
Similarly, Mr Bello approved the appointment of Mohammed Bashar Harka as the new director-general of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). His appointment followed the removal of Mr Arah.
Meanwhile, the governor has also directed the immediate termination of the appointment of Mr Adamu.
