Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has expressed sadness over the terrorist attack on communities in Borgu Local Government Area of the state.

The governor, through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the attack as cruel and nefarious, noting that it resulted in several deaths, kidnappings and destruction of livelihoods.

He extended his deepest sympathies to residents of the affected communities, particularly the victims and their families.

Victims of the attack at Kasuwan Daji Market in Sukumbara village included both Muslims and Christians from different communities in the area.

Mr Bago said it was disturbing and worrying to begin the year with such unfortunate incidents.

He urged residents to remain steadfast in faith, assuring them that his administration was collaborating with the Federal Government and security agencies to improve security in the affected areas.

The governor added that a joint security team was already on the trail of the terrorists to rescue the abducted victims.

Mr Bago prayed that God would repose the souls of the departed, secure the release of those kidnapped, heal the injured and restore livelihoods destroyed by the attack.
