Niger LG Election: Etsu Nupe pledges support for democracy

Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe and chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, has congratulated Governor Umaru Bago on the successful conduct of the local government elections.
The council poll was held on November 1, in which the ruling All Progressives Congress won all the available 25 chairmanship seats.
Mr Abubakar congratulated the governor when he led kingmakers and other traditional titleholders from the Bida Emirate on a courtesy visit to the governor in Minna on Saturday.
Mr Abubakar described the election as peaceful, fair, and credible, assuring the governor of the Emirate’s continued support for his administration’s developmental strides.
He pledged sustained prayers for the success of the present administration at all levels and lauded the government for delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
Responding, Mr Bago thanked Mr Abubakar for the visit and for his support, which he said had been consistent.
He reiterated that the welfare of the people remained his administration’s top priority and pledged to fast-track the state’s growth and development.
The governor also reassured the traditional rulers of his continued support, describing them as critical stakeholders in governance and development.
