Bolaji Adigun, zonal chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee, Zone 7, Police Headquarters, held a series of strategic engagements with the executives of the PCRC Niger command on Thursday.

Bamah Uche, the chairman’s chief of staff, stated this in Minna. According to Mr Adigun, members of the Niger repositioning committee and women coordinators also attended the engagements.

He said this was part of preparations for the forthcoming sensitisation programme scheduled for July 24 to July 25.

Mr Adigun stated that the engagements focused on fine-tuning arrangements for the two-day programme, which would feature a road walk and a public lecture.

This, he said, aimed at promoting community policing, strengthening police-community relations, and advancing the PCRC’s ideals and objectives across Niger.

Mr Adigun also encouraged members of the Niger command to actively engage in the National Safe Schools Project, describing it as a strategic national initiative that aligned with the PCRC’s mandate.

According to him, the PCRC mandate aims to foster safer learning environments through effective collaboration among the police, schools, communities, and other critical stakeholders.

He added that the delegation used the opportunity to pay a courtesy visit to the police commissioner in Niger, Adamu Elleman, who was briefed on the objectives and planned activities of the upcoming sensitisation programme.

As part of the visit, the zonal chairman also travelled to Suleja, where he met with respected community elders to discuss strategies to expand the PCRC’s membership and deepen community participation in security initiatives.

“The engagement underscored the committee’s commitment to building stronger partnerships with traditional institutions and local communities in support of safer and more secure neighbourhoods.

“Throughout the visit, the zonal chairman received warm commendation and appreciation from members, stakeholders, and community leaders for his steadfast commitment to repositioning the PCRC in Niger.

“They acknowledged his consistency, hands-on leadership, and unwavering support, which they noted have significantly revitalised the activities of the Command and inspired renewed confidence among members,” he said.
