Niger police arrest eight suspected miscreants

The Niger State police command has arrested eight suspected miscreants and recovered weapons and cannabis during a raid in the Maitumbi metropolis in Minna.

A statement on Tuesday by Wasiu Abiodun, the command’s spokesman, disclosed that the suspects were arrested on Sunday at about 1: 30 a.m.

“On August 23, 2026, at about 1:30 a.m., police operatives attached to Maitumbi Division, along with vigilante members, conducted raid operations at some identified blackspots within the Maitumbi area,” he said.

Mr Abiodun said the suspects were arrested with dangerous weapons such as a sickle, sticks, cutlass, long knife, and cannabis.

The suspects were identified as Anas Sani, Ibrahim Musa, Isah Haruna, Buhari Usman, Yusuf Shehu, Halilu Abubakar, Saidu Idris, and Musa Idris a.k.a Fresh.

He said all the suspects are in custody, undergoing further interrogation and will be charged in court after the investigation.
