The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger has commiserated with Governor Umaru Bago and the families of victims of the tanker explosion, which occurred at Dikko junction on Saturday.

Bulus Yohanna, CAN’s chairman in Niger, expressed solidarity with the governor and the state government.

“We are deeply saddened by the devastating incident and stand in solidarity with the state government,” Mr Yohanna said in a statement on Sunday. “The explosion is worrisome, heartbreaking, and unfortunate.”

He specifically sympathised with the governor and the families of the victims, praying that God grant the dead eternal rest and heal those injured.

Mr Yohanna also commended the government’s efforts in responding to the emergency and supporting the affected families and those still hospitalised.

The tanker explosion claimed no fewer than 86 lives, with many others injured.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning on the Dikko-Maje road in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger.
