Nigeria @62: Security beefed up at Eagle Square; movement restricted

Police patrol vans, manned by armed policemen, were stationed at strategic locations around Eagles Square while stop and search were ongoing.
Vehicular movements were restricted, and security operatives also turned back several vehicles.
Officers of the NSCDC were also seen on patrol with K9 dogs.
In an interview, Comfort Okomanyi, FCT Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), said Eagle Square and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are so far peaceful.
She said men of the NSCDC were on standby, surveillance and undercover duties to ensure the city was adequately secured.
According to her, operatives were also deployed to the city’s critical national assets and infrastructure to prevent attacks and vandalism hoodlums.
She further said the corps would continue working with other security agencies to ensure Nigeria’s 62nd anniversary was peaceful during and after.
