Nigeria beat Senegal 2-1 to reach final round of FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier
Nigeria’s Falconets are through to the final round of Africa’s qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup following a 2-1 win over Senegal in Thies on Saturday.
The result meant Nigeria defeated Senegal 3-1 across both legs of the penultimate qualifying round, after a 1-0 win in the first leg in Abeokuta, Ogun State, seven days ago.
Kindness Ifeanyi’s goal put the Falconets ahead in the first half before Precious Oscar headed one in from a corner kick to double the lead in the 68th minute.
Senegal pulled one back on the cusp of the game through a screamer, but it was too late for the hosts to pose any significant threat.
Nigeria will face Malawi in the final round of the qualifiers for a place in the main tournament scheduled to take place later in September this year.
Malawi thrashed Guinea 6-2 on aggregate across the two legs of their own tie.
