The Nigerian Defence Academy on Tuesday celebrated Burkina Faso’s 65th independence anniversary with allied cadets in Kaduna.

The academy hosted a vibrant celebration to commemorate the anniversary, according to a statement on Wednesday. The anniversary was held at the prestigious Valour Hall, located at the NDA’s permanent site in Afaka.

It said that the occasion brought together allied cadets from Burkina Faso and the academy.

The commandant of the academy, Abdul Ibrahim, said that the presence of Burkinabe cadets was a testament to the strategic military cooperation between Nigeria and Burkina Faso.

Mr Ibrahim described the development as a symbol of unity of purpose among African countries. He congratulated the Burkinabe cadets on their national day, calling it a significant moment of pride and reflection for both the cadets and their homeland.

The commandant emphasised the importance of upholding high standards of military conduct and serving as worthy representatives of their nation.

Mr Ibrahim urged the cadets to remain focused, disciplined, and unwavering in their commitment to excellence.

Speaking on behalf of the Burkinabe cadets, SD Christian urged his colleagues to reflect on the true significance of the day.

“Independence is not just a date on the calendar; it is a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who fought valiantly for our right to self-determination,” he said.

Mr Christian commended the people of Burkina Faso for their enduring strength and resilience and expressed profound gratitude to the commandant and the NDA for honouring their nation’s independence day.
