Nigeria celebrates Zimbabwe at 45

The federal government has commended the government and people of Zimbabwe over progress made in the 45 years of the country’s independence.
It also reaffirmed commitment to strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The minister of foreign affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, made this known in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
Mr Tuggar, in the statement, issued by Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesperson of the ministry of foreign affairs, congratulated the minister of foreign affairs and international trade of Zimbabwe, Amon Murwira, on occasion of his country’s 45th Independence Anniversary.
“This milestone marks a significant moment in Zimbabwe’s history, celebrating its sovereignty and national pride.
“The attainment of independence on April 18, 1980, by the people of Zimbabwe remains a remarkable achievement.
Mr Tuggar said, “Bearing in mind the historic role and significant contributions made by Nigerian people and government during the liberation struggle, which eventually culminated in victory.
“This historic milestone, therefore, marks the resilience, courage and firm determination of the Zimbabwean people in their pursuit of freedom, self-determination, and national development.
“Nigeria commends Zimbabwe for its noteworthy progress over the years and reaffirms our commitment to strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two nations.”
The minister further said that as fellow members of the African Union and other reputable multilateral organisations, Nigeria and Zimbabwe shared common vision for peace, prosperity, and continental integration.
“We remain steadfast in our support for Zimbabwe’s socio-economic development and look forward to deepening bilateral ties in areas of mutual interest, including trade, agriculture, and regional security.
“We therefore wish the government and people of Zimbabwe peace, prosperity and Nigeria’s continuing friendship and support,” he prayed.
