Nigeria recommits to climate action, sustainable development

The NCCC director-general reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the effective implementation of its NDC 3.0

On the margins of the UNFCCC SB64 Sessions in Bonn, Germany, the director-general of the National Council on Climate Change, Tenioye Majekodunmi, held a bilateral meeting with the executive secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Simon Stiell.

The NCCC director-general reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to effective implementation of its NDC 3.0 and to working with international partners to unlock the investments, partnerships, and institutional support required to achieve its climate and development objectives.

According to her, Nigeria remains committed to constructive engagement within the multilateral climate process and to advancing practical, country-driven solutions that support both national priorities and global climate ambition.

In a recent statement, the NCCC said the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss Nigeria’s climate priorities, progress in implementing its Nationally Determined Contribution 3.0, and the critical importance of translating climate commitments into tangible development outcomes.

Discussions focused on strengthening international cooperation, accelerating access to climate finance, supporting adaptation efforts, and advancing the implementation of climate actions that deliver economic growth, resilience, and sustainable development.
