Nigeria to host global railway conference

The minister of transportation, Said Alkali, says the federal government is ready to host the second international railway conference and exhibition to boost the nation’s infrastructure development.
The minister disclosed this in a statement signed by Janet Noah, the director of press and information in the ministry.
The upcoming railway conference and exhibition is scheduled to be held in Abuja from Sept. 15 to Sept. 26.
Mr Alkali noted that the transformative event would shape the future of transportation in Africa.
He said that the federal government would collaborate with other relevant stakeholders to accomplish the goals and objectives of the conference.
“The Federal Ministry of Transportation, with the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and De-sadel as a major partner, is set to welcome railway stakeholders from all over Africa and beyond.
“The stakeholders are to brainstorm on the topic: ‘Opportunities and Challenges in Railway Development in Africa; A call for Investment’ at the event in Abuja.
“Mr Rowland Ocholi Ataguba, Managing Director Bethlehem Rail, will deliver the keynote address,” he said.
