Nigeria very impressive against Algeria, deserved to win: Samir Nasri

Former Arsenal and Manchester City midfielder, Samir Nasri, has heaped praises on the Super Eagles following Nigeria’s dominant 2-0 win over Algeria in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal clash in Marrakech on Saturday.
Nigeria dominated the match from start to finish as second-half goals by Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams secured the West African nation’s spot in the final four of the tournament in Morocco.
Reacting to the Eagles’ win, the former France international, who has Algerian heritage through his grandparents, admitted that Nigeria were far more superior to Algeria in every aspect throughout the match and deserved the win.
“Bravo to the Nigerian team, very impressive in terms of physical athleticism and tactical play, well-deserved based on the content of the match,” the two-time Premier League winner said in a X post on Saturday.
Algeria had won all their matches in the tournament without conceding a goal before the game against Nigeria but a masterclass from the Eagles ended the streak in a convincing fashion.
Nigeria limited Algeria to only three shots, all which were off target, throughout the game. Those attempts only came after more than 60 minutes of action, highlighting the Eagles’ dominance in the match.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will face host nation Morocco for a place in the tournament final in a high-profile clash at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Wednesday.
Commenting on the match-up, Osimhen said, “We know they (Morocco) have a lot of quality players and a lot of support in front of their massive crowds, of course, but I don’t think we are the kind of team that is timid about any opponents. We will give our absolute best and try to win.”
