The 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Rukuba, near Jos, Plateau State, has inaugurated a special operation to tackle banditry and other security challenges in the Alkaleri Local Government Area (LGA) of Bauchi State.

Lt.-Col. Victor Olukoya, the division’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Jos.

Mr Olukoya revealed that Maj. Gen. Folunsho Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the division, inaugurated the operation.

He said the special operation, codenamed “Operation Bugun Karkanda III,” aims to restore lasting peace to Alkaleri and its environs.

“The operation, which is focused on restoring peace and security in vulnerable communities, specifically targeted Mansur village and the surrounding settlements within Alkaleri LGA.

“It is a decisive move to curb the activities of terrorists, bandits, and other non-state actors threatening the safety of residents in Bauchi state,” he said.

Mr Olukoya, who explained that the GOC had charged troops to be at the top of their game, described the move as a renewed military posture aimed at delivering tangible results.

“The GOC underscores the commitment of the Nigerian Army to the safety of lives and property and reaffirms the division’s unwavering commitment to protecting vulnerable communities across its area of responsibility,” he noted.

Mr Olukoya further said the operation had begun to yield results, with troops making positive progress.
