Nigerian Hope Chioma Patrick arrested, charged with child trafficking in Barbados

A Nigerian, Hope Chioma Patrick, has been arrested and charged with child trafficking and giving false information to immigration officers in Barbados.

The Barbados Police Service (TBPS) Sex Crimes and (Human) Trafficking Unit, on Friday announced that Ms Patrick was arrested and charged to court for crimes bordering on child trafficking and giving untrue information to immigration officers.

“Hope Chioma Patrick, 28, a Nigerian National, was arrested and charged for the “following offences: Trafficking in Children – June 21st 2026, wilfully giving an untrue answer to an immigration officer,” the police said.

The police posted a mugshot of Ms Patrick alongside the statement announcing her arrest and prosecution.

The 28-year-old Nigerian appeared before Magistrate Keitha Ellis in the District ‘B’ Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday 27th August 2026.

The police said Ms Patrick “was not allowed to plead to the indictable offences and was remanded to the Barbados Prison Service (Dodds),” adding “She is scheduled to reappear on Thursday 24th September 2026.”
